Hi To All Newcomers

Season's Greetings.

I'll bet you are here because Bittersweet Farm 1 is free at Amazon.  Terrific!

You are welcome to join us on Facebook
Bittersweet Farm FB Page
Feel free to join in, comment and meet the other readers.

I often post snippets of the work in progress, ask for input regarding titles or names of horses and definitely ask for opinions on cover art.  When a new release is scheduled, it will always appear there first.

I will always respond to questions or comments whether here at the blog or on my Facebook pages.
Barbara Morgenroth at Facebook
You can find me there too.

You can find me on Twitter @BarbMorgenroth.  I won't spam you, I promise.  I will mention, however, when a new work is available, or if there's news about another book.

There is also a website.  I'm sorry it's not very current.  Forgive me for not being able to do the code myself.  Someday I'll have time to learn how.

I've been riding for a good long time and writing for almost as long.  I have a TB/Oldenberg mare whose papered name is Zig Zag.  She goes by Ziggy and lives here with me.  She loves cookies and is very talkative.  Sometimes when I step out of the house, I get a lecture. She doesn't know anything about horse whispering and prefers to speak in a normal tone of voice.

I hope you like the books.  If you don't, try to remember I didn't write them to tick you off.  You can always contact me by email to express your pleasure or disappointment.

Mission Ranch Mystery 1: Unlucky Horseshoe

If a man makes his own luck, Stan stunk at it.

When twenty-seven year old fashion designer Berry Lake moves to Mission Ranch to live with her father, the last thing she expects is to be caught up in a murder investigation. Or could the last thing Berry expects be to help her father, Mitch, fend off the local retired ladies who are chasing after him? Or, could the last thing Berry expects be to fall for Sheriff Mark Fernandez who thinks she knows more about the murder than she's saying?

What Berry really didn't expect is that once she and her father determine who the murderer is, no one is safe.

Christmas is Galloping Toward Us

It's been snowing every day but not particularly cold so all the cleared surfaces are nicely iced.  Is it too early to be anxious for spring?

A Cowboy for Christmas

I needed to take a break between Bittersweet 9 and 10 so wrote a story
A Cowboy for Christmas .  Merry Christmas!

Emily Benoit left her small ranching community in Idaho to become the art director for a large New York City department store. In the process she broke her heart, as well as Devlin Camp's, the love of her life. Emily's back for Christmas and there are no tidings of comfort and joy from Devlin because he can't begin to forgive her. Besides, he got married. "Are you trying to break my heart?" "Yes," Devlin replies.
Emily knows too well what she gave up but how to get it back seems impossible.

Short story, sweet romance.

Bittersweet Farm 9: Roll the Dice LIVE

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PG4T2GI

“Did you stay overnight with Sloane? That shouldn’t be such a hard question to answer!”
“Why do you want to know?”
Cam and Greer can’t stop fighting and while it’s tearing Greer up, it doesn’t seem to affect Cam at all.
Spring has arrived, fresh in all ways, with it an unexpected addition to the farm and an expected departure. As ever, Victoria is not without her surprises or her style of revenge.
New opportunities are presented to Talia but she hesitates. Neither she nor Lockie are clear about the direction the farm should take and any choice means giving up something else.

Bittersweet 7 Paperback cover

If I work very hard I will have all the books in digital available in paper for the holiday season.  That's quite a mountain to climb with everything else I have to do but I'll give it a try.

BF9 will be available in about a week and we'll all be very glad about that!

Ein Sommer mit Pferden in Germany

Published today. #1 today!

It was originally published as Nicki & Wynne.  When I published it digitally I renamed it Summer Horse so people would know it had something to do with horses.

Tell A Friend Has A Website

http://bookbzz.com/  Someone liked the idea and made a website.  List your books for free.  If you loved a book, Tell A Friend!

Summer Horse in German!

Quite a few years separates these two editions and it wouldn't have been possible but for the Bittersweet Farm series.  A woman with a small publishing company started reading the BFs, contacted me, and we wound up here.

Nicki & Wynne was the original title.  When I decided to publish it myself I realized no one would have a clue what it was about so after thinking for a while Summer Horse seemed appropriate.

Good Luck in Germany Nicki and Wynne!

Bittersweet Farm 8: Tea Biscuit

As always, we don't know how fast Amazon will get this published but it will be later today--Aug. 27--or tomorrow.  You can sign up on Amazon to be notified when your favorite author releases a book.  Do that on their Author Page.  Or you can always sign up for my mailing list where I only notify you of new releases.  No other botherings, I swear.
Here's the blurb for the new book:
Spring has arrived and with it new horses, new challenges and old adversaries.  As Talia’s birthday approaches, her way forward is less certain than Greer’s vision of her future.  No matter how much Greer takes on, she manages to handle all of it from the Ambassador of Good Cheer to organizing a horse show.  Unfortunately, Greer can’t manage Cam as easily.
What Lockie has avoided saying for months can’t go unsaid any longer and he chooses to have the talk after her eighteenth birthday party.   Talia’s first question is “Are you leaving?”

Crazy Bad! Defiant Enrages Reader!

If Defiant can enrage this reader, it must be powerful.  You only take flak when you're over the target.

Mixed Messages and a agenda July 30, 2014 This read like a republican political commercial against "big" government. Like most propaganda, it tried to distract you from the fact that the ideas were not backed up with logic explanations, but instead, it tried to dazzle you with emotions. I wasn't dazzled by the weak romance offered up in this disaster of a book. It begins with a rape, but don't feel too bad because no one in the story really does. Apparently bad stuff happens to everyone, and you don't have time to cry or be traumatized. It goes on to tell you that those evil folks in the city have ruined us all by trying to prevent fraking for natural gas (cause their ain't no real proof that it pollutes ground water!! What?!). The electricity is gone, but there is no explanation how it happened, other than those stupid liberals trying to pass regulations are to blame. Oh, yeah, they killed all healthcare, too. It has a clear Christian viewpoint, but then allows for a couple to have premarital sex and there is no peace, just violence, advocated by the best Christian guy in town. I don't know what to make of this. It was crazy bad.

Christian viewpoint?  I'm not a Christian.
Fracking?  Does Marcellus Shale ring a bell?
"Big Government"/poor citizens?  Worked in Hunger Games.

Rented 2.0

For reasons too lengthy and boring to go into, Rented is now a standalone instead of a series.  There are two new chapters to conclude the book and tie up all loose ends.

Amazon has a policy of notifying readers when there's been a major overhaul so I would love to tell you that you can depend on Amazon to get you the new version.

Not true.  Amazon considers quality control only in such matters, like tpyos, not that the book has an entirely new, and wonderful, ending.

If you would like a copy of Rented 2.0, contact me and I will be happy to send it.  If you have not read Rented 1.0 but would like to read Rented 2.0, I'll be happy to send it.
If you enjoyed it, reviews are always appreciated.

If Wishes Were Horses Free through Kindle Unlimited

Amazon has a new program and there's a month free trial.  All the books you can read for $10 a month.  I think that's a pretty great deal.

If Wishes Were Horses has been put into the lending library type program, Kindle Unlimited.  If you haven't had a chance to read it, now you can read it for free.  (If you don't want to take advantage of the free trial, you can always spend the money!)

If you've been reading the Bittersweet Farm books, you know that Cap Rydell is from Old Newbury and came east to help out while Greer, Lockie and Tracy went to Florida.  This novella is the story of how Cap met Mill in California and the wish she made that came true.

Rented is Live

The real thing or just rented for the summer?

Cressida Avery wants to spend the months before her junior year in college healing the wounds from her last disastrous relationship.

Everything changes when Garrison Light comes to town and buys a house. He’s handsome, wealthy and a “weekender” from the city. Weekenders look down on the locals and the resentment is mutual.

Something in him calls out to her. Garrison is not like the others, not by a long shot and, even knowing he’ll be gone by Labor Day, Cress still can’t fight her desire to be with him. But nothing about Garrison is what it appears to be on the surface.

Can Garrison help Cress get over Aaron? And will Cress need to get over Garrison?

Defiant

Sometimes it's harder to find the right title for a book than it should be.  Sometimes it's hard to find the right cover art.  Then sometimes it falls into you lap.  All these things happened with this dystopian novella but it's right now and I'm pleased.  No horses.

Bittersweet Farm 7: Lyric Line

I might not have gone through sleet and hail to finish the new book but I did need to look at replacement cars.  My 1993 had rusted out almost totally from the salted roads in the winter.  Unfortunately not as good as salted caramel.  I went to look at a horse who was very personable but I wasn't a good match for him.

I hope this book will be a good match for you.

Now I have to prepare my garden for the tomatoes and donate more books to the library.  It's so easy to love the storage on my Kindle Fire--now dust, no clutter, no searching.

Bittersweet Farm 6 LIVE!

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ISBEERS

How much trouble can one girl find herself in? How about two girls?
In Florida for the Winter Equestrian Festival, Greer couldn’t have imagined that doing the right thing would lead to so many complications.
For Talia, she finds that doing the right thing has a cost.
This is a time of changes for everyone. The direction they were going in on New Year’s Day, is not where they are one month later.
For some, that’s a good thing. For some, it’s not.
But that’s how it is at Bittersweet Farm.

This is a short, 9 recipe cookbook I wrote that contains some very simple recipes you can make to please the most treasured people in your life.  I included something for almost every skill level so you are sure to find a treat you can make in a short amount of time.  There are photos of most of the projects and detailed, step-by-step instructions.  You can even contact me if you get confused--which I doubt!

It's absolutely free and not available in any online store.  If you'd like it comment or send me an email and I will send this book to you in mobi or epub.

Happy Valentine's Day!

January is Almost Over!

It's been so cold.  The only good part is that I haven't felt alone in the low temperatures.  Usually this part of the country is zero degrees and everyone south of here is breaking out the fans and iced tea.  I'm sorry for the rest of you--this must be a real shock.

Not that February and even March can't be cold and snowy, the odds start to decrease as we go into the year.  Yay!

Yes, I'm working on Bittersweet 6.  No, I don't have a title for it yet.  I'm also redoing several of the covers.  This should have been done before now but I haven't been able to get to everything!

Not Low Maintenance New Cover

Does a love story need to have a man and a woman on the cover?  How do we feel about that?

Monday, January 20, 2014

Flash and Flash of Light New Covers

Yes.  They needed a facelift and I've been lifting everywhere.

One day I said what if a teen had to earn money as a photographer in Hollywood.  The quickest way would be if she became a paparazzi.  That first night on the street, Kip takes a photo of the love of her life, actor Alex Milne.  And that's how the story begins.

And how the story ends?  You have to read the books, don't you.  But if you read Bad Apple 4: Certain, Kip appears in that book and we tie both series up with a nice big bow.

Nothing Serious Last New Cover

Cover art.  Yes.  Important?  It must be.  It's the first introduction the reader has to the book.

Like store brands.  Walmart, Stop & Shop, Best Whatever.  They used to be basic, rudimentary and fairly ugly.  Then something happened and these stores hired graphics designers to compete with Campbell's Soup.  The brand has to be identifiable and pleasing without opening the can to see the contents.

And yet there are books with not so pleasing covers that sell and books with wonderful covers that don't.

Cover art on ebooks is rapidly becoming more sophisticated.  I can honestly say I don't want to change this one again.  But maybe in 2 years, all book covers will be animated and I'll have to find a way to have this woman raising and lowering the flowers to her nose.

Nothing Serious is still a cute story no matter what the cover is.

Bittersweet Farm Cookbook

No, it doesn't exist but should it?  Would anyone be interested in a cookbook by Jules?
Yes.  There would be a recipe of Oliver popcorn balls.
Leave a comment for or against.

New Year New Opportunities

Here is Greyling, one of my feral cats, very rare here at Black Cat Farm, because he's grey.  There are only 2 colors of cats here.  Black.  Black and white.

May you all be judged favorably in 2014.
